Research Methods

My Brief Description

In this course, you learned how to use skills that were taught in PSY 225 which is Psychology statistics. You and some groupmates come up with a topic that you want to research using a survey. Over the course of the semester, you learn different types of validities, etc. that could affect your experiment. Then at the end a research paper about your experiment is written and you with your group present it.

UNE Course Description

“The underlying logic of primary methods of research in the social and behavioral sciences will be investigated. The development of research questions and their relationship to theory will be discussed. Students will identify and select appropriate methods for conducting research. The interpretation of research results will be reviewed in terms of their significance and meaning. Second-year status required.”

3 Key Things that I Learned:

  • I learned how to write a proper research paper.
  • I learned how to conduct an experiment when before all I have done was write about an experiment.
  • I learned how to speak in front of a professional audience.

Sample of Work

During spring 2021 I took this class and we had to make our own study with partners. My partners and I decided to look into how occupation and sleep levels affect stress levels. What is meant by occupation is either worker or college student. I included the paper that I wrote along with the presentation that my partners and I made. The results of this study was there was not enough statistics to back our hypotheses. Which you can find in both of the samples I included. These samples show my skills in writing, SPSS, presentation skills, and being able to use sources along with citations.
