Intern, Wildlife Clinic of Rhode Island, Saunderstown, RI                                        June – July 2022

• Participated in 130-hour internship with fully-functional certified wildlife clinic dedicated to veterinary care and treatment of wild animals a variety of species including opossum, racoons, skunks, foxes, turtles, songbirds, birds of prey, geese, squirrels and other small mammals.
• Demonstrated effective animal husbandry skills helping with preparing food and feeding and watering duties, cleaning animal enclosures, and hand-feeding infant birds.
• Properly handled wildlife to prevent habituation; learned techniques in limiting interaction with species in order to prohibit dependence on humans and for rehabilitation into natural habitats.
• Observed veterinarian with assessment and treatments including x-rays, triaging injuries, evaluating follow-up care and observing several surgeries (removing a drainage, cleaning wound and surgical stitching, euthanization, etc.)

Vet Assistant/Clinic Advisor, Vetco Vaccination Clinic, North Kingston, RI.  Dec. 2020 – March 2022

• Assisted veterinarians in mobile vet clinic, travelling to Vetco stores to administer vaccines, run blood tests and helping with other pet care clinical needs.
• Promoted from Clinic Advisor position based on skills and aptitudes.
• Helped with animal handling to support the veterinarian in vaccinating animals. Learned about administrating various vaccines including rabies, distemper (cats and dogs), leptospirosis, Lyme, FeLV, canine influenza, Bordetella, and dewormer. Drew vaccines from bottles and handed to veterinarian to administer.

• Studied 50 adults over age 18 to conduct study on low levels of sleep and assess how the amount of sleep and type of occupation impacted individual stress levels.
